National EMS Week May 21, 2007The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) along with several corporate sponsors celebrate Nation Emergency Medical Services (EMS) this week in May annually in recognition of the EMS response system nationally. This years theme is "Extraordinary People, Extraordinary Service".
It's important for you, the residents we serve, to know that locally the South Fire District plays an essential role in the EMS first response system to medical emergencies within our district and to those we assist through mutual aid. The South Fire District staff which are medically trained (your firefighters) enjoy a close working relationship with the staff of Hunters Ambulance (our transport agency), Middlesex Hospital (our paramedic agency) and Harford Hospital, which provides emergency transport via it's Lifestar Helicopter to trauma centers, cardiac units, burn centers and specialty hospitals throughout the northeast. It is this close working relationship of extraordinary people which gives you the best possible extraordinary service in your time of medical need.
As the nation celebrates National EMS week, we recognize and celebrate our staff for their training and talents which remain ready to respond for any fire, rescue and yes-EMS emergency at a moment's notice.
As always, thanks on behalf of all the staff for your continued support of the South Fire District.
