Captain Joseph S. Pagano Jr.
It is with great sadness that I write you to inform you of the line of duty death of Captain Joseph S. Pagano Jr., a 28 year veteran of the Middletown Fire Department. Prior to joining the Middletown Fire Department, Captain Pagano was a dedicated volunteer Firefighter for the South Fire District.
November 4, 2006
Captain Pagano was stricken while on duty last evening (11/3) shortly after 6:00 pm at the Cross Street station with a cardiac emergency. Despite the valiant efforts of Captain Pagano's own crew, Medic's from Middlesex Hospital and Hunters Ambulance as well as that of the staff of the ER at Middlesex Hospital, Captain Pagano succumbed about 7:15. Captain Pagano was 52 years old and was planning to retire in June of 2007.
Captain Pagano is survived by his wife Linda, their two daughters, his father Joseph S. Pagano, Sr. (also a life member of the South Fire District) his sister and two brothers, extended family and in-laws. Joe was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, uncle as well as a dedicated public fire servant. His smile, sense of humor, friendship, love of sports and his love of the fire service will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved Joe.
We respectfully ask to keep Captain Pagano, his wife, kids, family and the firefighters of the Middletown Fire Department in your thoughts and prayers.
With my thanks and gratitude,
Robert J. Ross
