School Honors South Fire District
Fire Fighters at 2nd Annual 9/11 Ceremony
September 11, 2006
On this crisp fall day, students from St. Sebastian Catholic School were gathered outside in their red and black uniforms, ready to begin the ceremony they had worked hard to prepare for. Special displays created by the 6th grade students, depicting the September 11 tragedy, were proudly set up for the audience to view.
The students, faculty, and invited guests were there to honor the victims of the September 11th attacks -- both those who perished, and those who survived that terrible day in 2001.
They were also there to honor all the men and women who go to work every day to protect the citizens of the United States. Several representatives from the South Fire District were present to take part in the ceremony.
Chief Robert Ross was among the speakers and talked about how the tragedy hit close to home... Mr. Bruce Eagleson, from the neighboring town of Middlefield, was one of the victims of that dreadful day.
Several students read remembrances of September 11th to the audience, and one student shared a poem she had written.
The students presented the Firefighters with a fruit basket to represent their appreciation for their role in protecting the community.
