News ReleaseAn Ending and a Beginning at South Fire District
The following message is from Commission Chairman David Gallitto:
Firefighter Joseph Sarcia, a 33 year veteran of the South Fire District has resigned from the South Fire District effective July 3, 2006. In his retirement letter to the district Joe said good bye to the "red lights, sirens and air horns" wishing all the firefighters and staff "the best of health and to stay safe as you only go around in life so enjoy it". Joe, an only child and having lost his Dad at age four, gave credit to former Chief Milardo as serving as father image and the Firefighters as his brothers. Joe also credited the men and women he worked with as having "a warm compassionate heart to help others in need".
Please join all of us at the SFD in wishing Joe much health and happiness now and in the future.
Iris Laurenza, Tax Clerk for the South Fire District since February 2005, has been appointed Tax Collector for the district effective July 1, 2006. Iris has been filling in the duties of the Tax Collector during the absence of former Tax Collector Pat Brown who retired in May of 2006. Please join us in congratulating Iris on the appoint and wishing her success during her service to the South Fire District tax office.
